Veteran forward #Richard Jefferson has found his new home. In the recent past, Mike Miller served a leadership role in Denver and, even if Jefferson likely doesn’t project as a rotation player for the deep and talented Nuggets, there is enough value here for the team to move on from an incumbent piece in veteran point guard Jameer Nelson. “No agreement has been reached, but the Bucks and Jefferson, 37, have mutual interest in a possible deal once he clears waivers Monday, league sources said“, Wojnarowski and McMenamin said in their report.
There are reportedly 3-4 teams interested in Jefferson including Milwaukee and Denver. In addition, he also has a strong history with the Bucks coach Jason Kidd.
Jefferson will bring a veteran presence and championship pedigree to a young and inexperienced Nuggets squad.
Jefferson has been one of the hottest commodities on the market over the past handful of days, following his trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Atlanta Hawks, only to be released shortly thereafter. For Kevin Love, Richard will always be a Cavaliers.
“I picked Denver because I believe in what they are doing and building and believe I can add and contribute on and off the court to their nucleus in a positive way”, Jefferson said.
Jefferson appeared in 14 games during Cleveland’s 2016-17 playoff run and averaged 3.9 points in 12.8 minutes per game.
Jefferson has averaged 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds throughout his 16-year career in the National Basketball Association. “Josh had just finished school and we made a decision to go out and drink every single night in New York”, Jefferson said on a March episode. “It’s a business and we know we’ll probably see him down the road”.
