Jose Mourinho Comments on MU’s Draw with Liverpool

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has accused Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku of deliberately flicking a boot into his face during Saturday’s goalless draw at Anfield.

Lovren rolled away with his hands to his face as Lukaku freed himself and replays of the incident suggested the Belgium worldwide caught him with the heel of his boot.

Mourinho was appointed by United in May 2016 and led the club to the Europa League title last season. To be honest, my point of view is that he did on objective. I think maybe that was also the reason.

‘It’s the same story like before the global break but we have to go again on Tuesday because I think it’s just a small, small step and then we will come in the right direction again, ‘ Can told SFR Sport. “It is what it is”.

Regarding the FA’s decision not to punish United’s £75m summer signing, Lovren added: “that happened on the pitch and it is over”.

“What I can say is that I am still a manager with questions, with ambitions, with a desire to do new things and I do not think… That’s football – it’s part of the game“.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Maribor, he said: “I made a tackle and I felt he was over me and could have moved away”.

Liverpool put in a good performance, but Klopp could have turned it up in the second half if he had wanted to”.

Seeking to ward off accusations his team had played with undue conservatism, Mourinho suggested that Klopp should have been more proactive and paid him a backhanded compliment by praising Liverpool’s defensive organisation.

“He’s always done it, I expected it before the game”. “We had chances that we didn’t take but after each game you have to take the positives”.

“If that doesn’t improve, they won’t win the league and that’s when the criticism will come”.
