Jim Carey has given a bizarrely frank interview on the meaninglessness of a red carpet even he was about to attend in NY. News host Catt Sadler at Harper’s Bazaar’s party celebrating Icons by Carine Roitfeld at the Plaza in New York City, and it only got more awkward from there.
Carrey branches out from their to the realms of the deeply transcendental, talking about how none of this world is actually real and “we don’t matter”.
The actor was interviewed by E! ‘Oh, I’m Italian, that’s who I am.’ The fact is you don’t exist. What do you think is going on with Jim Carrey?
“Celebrating icons? Boy, that is just the lowest aiming possibility that we could come up with”, he said, finding some room in the conversation to add a few impersonations into the mix.
The actor broke out a James Brown impression before continuing, “I don’t believe in icons”.
Twirling around reporter Catt Sadler, Carrey started things off by letting her know, “there’s no meaning to any of this”. “I believe that peace lies beyond personalities, beyond invention and disguise, beyond the red “S” you wear on your chest, that makes bullets bounce off,” he continued, referencing a 2014 commencement speech he gave Maharishi University of Management in Iowa. I believe it’s deeper than that.
“But Jim, you got really dressed up for the occasion”. I believe that we’re a field of energy dancing for itself and. “And I don’t care”, he said. But Sadler’s incredible reactions clearly show she wasn’t ready for it. “There’s just things happening”, Carey proposed. I’ve gone through it and I’m telling you, you don’t survive it.
